AUSTRALIAN $345 MILLION CASINO BEGINS CONSTRUCTION

Australia SydneyThe new tower at the Jupiters Hotel and Casino on the Gold Coast, Australia, has officially began construction when the first shovel hit the dirt on August 17th, 2015. Upon its completion in 2018 (in time for the Commonwealth Games for the year), the tower will stand at 17 storeys tall and contain 80 suites with individual balconies, complete with a personal butler for each one. Some of the accommodations have been referred to by Echo Entertainment Chairman John O’Neill as “super-suites”, with a massive balcony and an outlook across Gold Coast’s iconic beach strip. O’Neill added that he and his company are “committed to positioning Jupiter as a world-class integrated resort”, with the final goal being to make the new tower, and the hotel and casino surrounding it, one of Australia’s landmarks. Upon its completion, the tower is expected to receive six stars due to its sheer size, as well as the quality of service, food and accommodations. O’Neill explains that it will offer “a new level of luxury” for the gamblers who decide to visit it. The construction is handled by Probuild, one of Australia’s biggest developers, who managed to secure the contract after a prolonged dispute. The massive project was hotly demanded by construction companies, as it’s the first six-star hotel built on the Gold Coast in the last 15 years. Upon its completion, the tower is expected to provide more than 1000 jobs for the local population. This made the ceremony where the symbolic first shovel was made a rather high-profile one, attended by various public figures of the region, including the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

WELCOME

WelcomeHello, dear reader, and welcome to Praats Magazine! My name is Lukas Peeters and I am Praats’ Editor-In-Chief. I’m extremely happy and proud to share with you the latest version of our magazine, which for the first time ever is available to English-speaking audiences. Praats has existed since 1998, quickly becoming Belgium’s first (and best) casino magazine, covering various news about casinos in the country and giving Belgian gamblers tips and strategies on how to beat the system and come out on top. Two months before the magazine’s 10th anniversary, Praats’ online version was launched, which quickly proved so popular that we soon made the difficult (but, in retrospect, right) decision to cease production of the physical publication and focus all of our efforts on the online format. Praats thrived in the Belgian webspace for many years. Earlier this year (2015), we decided to make yet another hard choice, and that was to remove the language barrier once and for all and allow gamblers outside of Belgium to enjoy the content that we produce. This decision was rather controversial among our staff, but ultimately we decided that this was the logical next step, considering that more than half of Belgium’s population speaks fluent English (which includes most of our audience). As such, we decided to completely rework our website with an English-speaking audience in mind, bringing in new content and a new design. Some of our best articles from the past will return (translated into English), but for the most part we’re planning to focus on brand new content. What you can expect to see from us are casino news articles, tips and reviews. Now that we’re no longer confined to the Belgian market, you can expect our variety of articles to drastically increase as well. 17 years after our founding, we’re turning a brand new leaf, and I couldn’t be any more excited about it! I hope you join us for a brand new adventure!
