Esther and Hersch Lowenbraun

Hello Patrick. I wish I could understand what your website is saying but I only speak English. It looks like an incredible amount of information. can you tell me a little bit about it? I am wondering if perhaps you can help me with my search. My grandparents, Esther and Hersch Lowenbraun were Jewish Polish citizens living in Charleroi, Belgium. My mother was a three year old child at the time. My grandparents with the help of the wonderful underground put her in St. Josephs convent in Gilly and then were hidden by the underground in 14 different homes around belgium. I would love to know what happend to them during the war and who hid them. Do you know which underground was operating in that area? Would you be able to post their picture on your website with my e mail address and a question to your readers if anyone knew them?

Esther ( Thérèse ) was born in Sasow, Poland on April 7, 1899, Hersch was born on June 18, 1903 in Krakow, Poland. they both came from Bukowsko, Poland. Their daughter, my mother Therese Lowenbraun was born on October 23, 1938. My mother was hidden on a farm in Villers - Poteries, in Biesme-sous-Thuin, and in a convent in Gilly."

Do you work for the museum in Mechelen? I can't believe you bought a book special for this. you are so nice. My grandparents were Hersch Lowenbraun and Esther Weigler/Lowenbraun. Maybe the name Weigler is in the book? I do not know what my mothers last name was during the war only that it was Therese. She lived with a childless couple in Biesme-sous-Thuin . The wife's name was Anna/Anita Visintini. Her husband taught in the school in Biesme-sous-Thuin. Anitas grave is in Biesme-sous-Thuin. Then my mother was moved to the Larose farm in Villers Poteries. I speak to Andre Larose all the time. He is the son of one of the men who hid my mother on the farm. His grandmother madame Larose (I don't know her first name yet) and his father, uncle and aunt Marguerite helped to hide my mother. Marguerite is still alive and Andre just told her yesterday that i am coming to see her in Belgium during the week of may 19th so she is very excited. She wrote me a letter that my mother used to ride on her bicycle along the train tracks from Biesme-sous-Thuin to Villers Poterie with her. They went on the train tracks because Marguerite was afraid to go on the main roads because of nazi patrols. I wish I had money to bring a camera crew with me to film this occasion when I get to hug and kiss the woman who saved my mothers life. My mother now has 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren so Marguerite and her family really saved 34 people!! Maybe I should call a local television station to see if they can come to film this special occasion and then maybe they can announce that if anybody knows anyone from the resistance who helped rescue my mommy they can call me or something? Do you know a name of a t.v. station who would want to film this? maybe the museum of resistance can help me? Thanks so much for your time. you sound like a very special man, Tanya.
